Sustainable Food Supply

Horticulture is transforming how we grow, source, and enjoy food, placing sustainability at the forefront of global food solutions. Focused on the broader need of growing a Sustainable Food Supply for our planet, this subtheme convenes multinational organizations, innovative start-ups, growers and scientists defining solutions for our global food and water challenges. As gardening and homegrown food gain momentum, idle residential and community spaces are being reimagined as vibrant, edible landscapes. By blending ornamental and edible gardening, we break down traditional barriers and create multifunctional spaces that are both beautiful and productive. These innovative green spaces not only provide health benefits and pollinator support but also foster water efficiency, reduce costs, and reconnect communities to the land.

This sub-theme also emphasizes regenerative agriculture and cutting-edge water management solutions as key to sustainable food production. By leveraging horticulture's potential to lead in these areas, we ensure resilient systems that serve local and global needs. Grocery stores and restaurants play an integral role in this ecosystem by championing locally sourced, sustainably grown produce, influencing consumer habits, and promoting greener supply chains.
