Public Green Space

Public green spaces are vital to the health of our communities and our planet, and The Public Green Space sub-theme at Expo 2031 highlights their transformative power. From iconic landmarks like Central Park and the High Line to small-town revitalizations and innovative urban parks, these spaces demonstrate how horticulture enhances quality of life and combats climate change. A centerpiece of this effort establishes a Horticulture Advisory Committee, convening industry experts and partners from across the horticultural spectrum and broad geographies of the United States. This committee will serve as the resource to the Expo 2031 Site team ensuring we represent the full range of flora, fauna and USDA zones across the United States.

Expo 2031 celebrates the invaluable contributions of U.S. public gardens, including the Smithsonian Gardens, United States Botanic Garden, and the American Public Garden Association. These institutions showcase how green assets educate, inspire, and unite communities while addressing social impact issues including food deserts, improving biodiversity, and mitigating climate change.
