EXPO 2031 MINNESOTA USA ENTERS A NEW PUBLIC PHASE

From Lakeville to Minnesota. From the United States to the world.

For three years, Expo 2031 Minnesota USA has been advancing through planning, horticultural exposition processes, federal and international engagement, site development, partnerships and program design.

Today, the story becomes more public.

With work advancing around the Lakeville Host City relationship and permanent legacy site, Expo 2031 is entering its next phase: building the community, partnerships and public understanding necessary to welcome the world in 2031.

For many people, this will be their first introduction to the project.

So we should begin with the simplest question.

What is Expo 2031?

Expo 2031 Minnesota USA is an international horticultural exposition planned for May through October 2031.

Its theme is:

Human / Nature

Where Humanity & Horticulture Meet

The idea begins with horticulture.

But it quickly becomes much larger.

Food.

Agriculture.

Technology.

Cities.

Health.

Water.

Energy.

Biodiversity.

Pollinators.

Tourism.

Culture.

Research.

Education.

And the places where people live.

Horticulture sits at the intersection of all of them.

Expo 2031 will invite countries, businesses, growers, researchers, institutions, communities and millions of visitors into that conversation.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF INTERNATIONAL EXPO

Visitors will not come simply to walk through exhibition halls.

They will move through landscapes.

Gardens.

National participation.

Innovation.

Food.

Entertainment.

Culture.

Technology.

Learning.

And experiences designed to make the questions of Human / Nature tangible.

The USA Pavilion will tell an American story.

Countries will bring their own perspectives.

Minnesota will become part of the visitor experience.

And organizations from across the United States will have an opportunity to show the world how American innovation, horticulture and communities are approaching the future.

MORE THAN SIX MONTHS

Expo 2031 is also being designed around a permanent legacy.

That means asking a different question from the beginning:

What remains when the world goes home?

Our goal is for the answer to include gardens, gathering places, infrastructure, tourism, economic activity, community amenities and a lasting destination rooted in the Expo's mission.

The legacy is not the epilogue to Expo 2031.

It is part of the design.

A STATEWIDE WELCOME

Lakeville may host the Expo.

Minnesota will help welcome the world.

Over the coming years, Expo 2031 will work with tourism destinations, cities, CVBs and DMOs, gardens, businesses, cultural institutions, growers and communities to connect visitors with experiences across the state.

We want someone traveling to Minnesota for Expo 2031 to discover far more than the Expo.

We want them to discover Minnesota

A NATIONAL PLATFORM

And the opportunity extends beyond Minnesota.

Expo 2031 can create a new platform for American horticulture, agriculture, technology, research, culture and commerce to connect internationally.

That is why our proposition is bigger than bringing visitors to one site.
