Updated: Jan 7

EXPO 2031 APPLICATION

December 2023 Update

Seasons Greetings from Minnesota, USA

< SEPTEMBER >

As many of you already know we officially expressed our interested to the International Association of Horticulture Producers (the AIPH) in September during the AIPH 75th Annual Congress in Suncheon, Korea.

We additionally spent the week at the Congress meeting the AIPH Leadership, Board Members from across the world and immersing ourselves in the Horticulture Expo World.

< OCTOBER >

During October we welcomed Treve Evans of the AIPH to Minnesota to familiarize him with our Midwest region and the numerous horticultural and cultural amenities that we can offer during an A-1 World Horticultural Expo. Additionally we explored a collection of potential Expo sites as an official part of our Application Process.

Of course, we included a private tour of Bailey Nurseries and meetings with Minnesota’s horticultural trade leaders from the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association.

There will be another official visit by a delegation of AIPH leaders to walk our proposed site which will be shared as part of our official application in Doha, Qatar at the AIPH Spring Meeting.

In case you haven’t had the chance to check out the current A-1 World Horticultural Exposition in Doha, Qatar, just click below to see first hand (digitally) what a Horticultural Expo experience can include.

<COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT>

With the generous support of EXPO 2031 by R. T. Rybak and the Minneapolis Foundation; Leni Moore and Mark Ritchie have been convening Minnesota’s Community Leaders and learning about what they imagine programmatically a World Horticultural Expo might include.

< NOVEMBER >

We’ve been busy in November developing our Expo 2031 Application, Theme and the companion programming to evangelize our World Horticultural Expo across the USA beginning here in Minnesota.

We’ve begun our Founding Partner conversations and look to share some exciting updates in December.

In this update you will see the introduction of two of our programs that will help us develop the founding stakeholders and partners that will help us fund and then define our World Horticultural Expo.

If this is of interest to you, our 2024 Green Guide and See the Future Podcast provide a place for horticulture relevant projects, programs and organizations to be put on a global stage during our Expo Application process.
